Facilitator:

Ricardo Marques is a self-taught artist from Portugal with a passion for sculpture. From a young age, he has been fascinated by the art form.

In 2003, he decided to travel to Ireland to expand his horizons. During his eight years there, he held numerous exhibitions, installations, workshops, and residencies.

While in Ireland, Ricardo had the opportunity to work alongside master carvers such as James Dunbar, Jackie McKenna, Fred Conlon, and Martha Quin at the Leitrim Sculpture Centre. It was here that he honed his skills and developed his unique style. Ricardo's work is characterized by his exploration of feelings and emotions, which he translates into abstract and organic forms using primarily stone and wood.

Today, Ricardo is back in Portugal and runs Elfic Wood Works, where he creates wooden spoons and shares his knowledge through workshops around the country.

Despite his success, Ricardo remains humble and continues to push himself creatively, always striving to improve his craft.
