Community Garden volunteering

The general aim of this experience is to build all the practical skills required to create abundant small scale food producing gardens. You will be involved in the day-to-day care of the garden, from seeding, to bed preparation, maintenance, and harvesting.

We're looking for someone who would like to commit for at least 1 month and is willing to share this experience and learn with us in this process.

*At the moment this possibility is not available. You can apply to volunteer with us for a combination of other tasks, such as kitchen, maintenance, hospitality, which might include gardening tasks from time to time but not exclusively. We are looking for people open and willing to volunteer with us according to the needs of the land, which might vary from time to time.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Crop cultivation and maintenance

  • Preparing plant beds and soil for cultivation

  • Seeding and plant propagation in nursery 

  • Composting and other Bio fertilization strategies

  • Garden Design and planning

  • Natural pest management

  • Harvesting and produce washing

  • Data logging methods

  • Working with drip irrigation systems for dry climates

WHAT WE REQUIRE:

  • 30 hours per week (including communal cooking and cleaning tasks)

  • Positive & motivated attitude

  • Adaptable to off grid living and working in conditions in a rural setting

  • Be physically fit enough for farm work

  • Take care of your own health insurance

  • Respect for our farm rules & community agreements

DAILY FARM RHYTHM

We gather together for lunch at 1pm on weekdays. We work from Monday to Friday, and each day we meet at 8:00 am for a morning check-in and organizing tasks. On Wednesdays, sometimes we gather at 14:30 pm for Community Afternoon where the space is open to share and exchange ideas and be involved in community activities.
